E-CIO E-CIO is the automation solution to support OCIO business process. The OCIO business processes  consist of the governance, compliance, operation and administration. E-CIO is the same ideal as E-GOV. E-CIO enable E-Gov.

Automate the CIO business processes Instead of individual tool, the e-CIO is considered The automation of IT management processes enable the real time update of the repository. Real time update eliminate the redundant data input effort which have the last priority.

Update repository in real time The traditional repository requires redundant effort to update the repository. Many repository are not updated due to limitation of resources. The integrated repository are updated in real time during the business process automation.

A Service Oriented Architecture  solution E-CIO is made possible using Service Oriented Architecture technology. In computing, the term service-oriented architecture (SOA [pronounced "sō-uh" or "es-ō-ā"]) expresses a perspective of software architecture that defines the use of loosely coupled software services to support the requirements of the business processes and software users. Establish the OCIO Platform The requirement for repository mix the analysis capability and the management capability. Vendors take a short cut to convert their system design system as a EA repository. Analysis capability requires a proprietary database. The next slide by Daud Santosa of  the department of Interior serve as an example of the OCIO platform.

Tools to become application services Stovepipe oriented IT management tools become application services. Leverage on standard EA meta data and the services oriented platform technology, vendor can develop IT management services. Similar to the difference interface card on PC, vendors can market different IT management service on Capital investment. Project management.  Requirement management,  Procurement management SDLC automations

Meta data standard is essential Meta data standard is essential to support the service oriented architecture design. Vendors can not establish the services without established EA meta data standards. The standard EA meta data standards are used to support XML technology.

Enterprise Service Bus An Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) is a flexible connectivity infrastructure for integrating applications and services.  [IBM] An ESB performs the following: Routing messages between services Converting transport protocols between requestor and service Transforming message formats between requestor and service Handling business events from disparate sources

E-CIO before E -Gov E-CIO is critical for the success of E-Gov. E-CIO is the locomotive for the E-Gov effort. E-CIO establish the credibility . Manual IT governance and compliance process has become a burden. E-CIO streamline the process to minimize the burden of compliance review.
